The 26th Assembly District can no longer afford Terry Van Akkeren.

Van Akkeren has proven himself less than trustworthy, unable to control his temper and has a history of playing deceptive games.

When he was running for mayor, I saw firsthand his inability to control his temper during a couple of city meetings. When we have a representative who cannot behave properly as a spectator in a meeting, how is he representing us in Madison?

When he first ran for the Assembly, he said he would not vote to raise taxes. Since he has been in office taxes have gone up by about $2 billion. The state budget has spun out of control with about a $6 billion deficit. Since he’s been in office, many state accounts have been robbed of their money to try to make up for the unnecessary spending.

Not long ago, Van Akkeren said he would support conceal and carry legislation. Then he voted no.

Two years ago, when running for his most recent term, he asked for support and won, while telling many that he would not run for mayor of the City of Sheboygan. But then he did, and before the mayoral primary, said he would resign as state representative if he won. Then, after he won the primary, changed his mind and said he wouldn’t resign his state position.

Then, when he lost the mayor’s race for the third time, he said he wasn’t going to run for state representative again.

So it is obvious that Van Akkeren is confused about his employment options and just wants to bide his time until something better comes along.

Let’s help Mr. Van Akkeren with his decision and vote him out on Sept. 14 in the primary election. The 26th assembly district needs a representative committed to its constituents.

This football season, the United Way and the National Football League are teaming up and we need you to join us!

Back to Football Friday is a fun and exciting effort to promote youth health and wellness. With your help, the NFL and United Way will raise awareness about the importance of an active lifestyle for our nation’s youth — and in the process give away great prizes, including tickets to the Super Bowl.

Getting involved is simple: Just sign up and wear your favorite NFL team’s football gear on September 10th, the start of football season. You’ll help raise awareness about childhood obesity and be entered for a chance to win two tickets to Super Bowl XLV!

Please sign up now:

www.liveunited.org/btff-signup

Wearing your favorite team’s gear on September 10th is a good way to start raising awareness for youth health and wellness, but there’s a lot more to it than that.

The NFL and United Way have been working together for more than 35 years, and for every person who signs up to get involved in Back to Football Friday, we’ll gain more momentum in the fight against childhood obesity.

With your help this effort will make a real difference.
